Announcing the 2018 BostonFest Coolest Companies Finalists

Let me tell you: selecting the finalists for this year's Coolest Companies, our signature competition at BostonFest, was a ton of fun.

Now in its seventh edition, the Coolest Companies is not about winning (okay, okay, it's also about winning); we see it as a chance to create a spotlight for the companies that have the best culture, or that are working on the coolest stuff—in other words, the places where employees end up being happy.

When opening the nominations, we asked the Boston tech community to submit the names of the companies that are crushing it, and why.

Per usual, narrowing down a list of hundreds of nominations to 150 finalists was not easy. Picture the BostInno editorial team around a table, debating, clicking on laptops and cursing Microsoft Excel—that's us.

But we made it. During the selection process, we prioritized companies that focus on giving back to the community, as well as giving employees great perks. Speaking of great perks, did you know that one local company is taking its whole crew to Paris to "give employees a benefit that allows them to embrace life experiences while at this job," as the CEO put it? Pretty cool stuff!

As usual, we'll reveal the top 10 Coolest Companies at our pillar summer event BostonFest, on Aug. 23 at The Lawn on D. Make sure to grab a ticket.

In the meantime, get ready to vote again. Together with today's finalist announcement, we are officially opening up the "Reader’s Choice" voting, where the community will get to select the five "All Around Coolest Companies" winners. Cast your ballot here.

Without further ado, here are the finalists for BostInno's 2018 Coolest Companies competition:
