Silvercar, the Audi-renting Austin startup that launched in 2012, has enlisted former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and “30 Rock” actor Judah Friedlander for its first TV commercial.

The commercial begins airing Tuesday on VICELAND, Vice Media’s new network. It features Friedlander riding down the airport escalater next to Aikman.

Friedlander notices Aikman is renting a car on the Silvercar app. Friedlander says he’s renting a car, too.

“I like to get on a big line, check in at the counter, walk through a few parking lots, find my spot number, fill out some paperwork and just take off,” he tells Aikman.

It’s a sarcastic example of the hassles of renting a car through traditional services. Aikman, on the other hand, is using Silvercar and gets to skip the line.

The commercial was produced by Virtue Worldwide and Pulse Films, two of VICE Media’s in-house creative agencies. Although Aikman pulls up Los Angeles in the Silvercar app in the commercial, the scenes were filmed in Dallas.

It comes about six months after Silvercar got its biggest investment to date — a $28 million Series C led by Audi.
