What do 75 world class tequilas, authentic-style taquitos and Mexican skeletons all have in common? They’ll all be arriving this year in the Boston area, by way of Besito Mexican expanding to the state.

Owned by acclaimed restaurateur John Tunney III, the Besito mini chain currently has three existing locations in the New York and Connecticut areas, and by the end of the year, two more will have opened in Mass. One located at the Mall at Chestnut Hill, and the other located at the Burlington Mall, Besito is bringing Mexican fare, margaritas and more to the Boston area.

Both restaurants will be 100-seat facilities, with the Chestnut Hill location boasting a patio space when the weather permits. The restaurants are built to exude an “intimate” atmosphere, as well as authentic Mexican decor – Tunney prepared to open his first Besito location by taking a trip through Mexico in order to establish a “connection between the people and the cuisine,” according to an official release. Think imported South American eucalyptus poles, clay beads, tons of candles, Mexican skeletons and horse paintings.

The result? According to the release:

There’s an undeniable energy that permeates Besito Mexican. The room evokes the warmth of a private hacienda while the atmosphere is vibrant and inviting. Tunney’s design team made sure that no detail has gone unnoticed and that level of dedication is apparent throughout the space.

So, while you post up in your “private hacienda,” take a peek at the menu. For food, expect to find Enchiladas, tacos, taquitos, guacamole and more. Margaritas, sangrias and mojitos can be found at the bar alongside tequila flights, mezcal and wines from South America, Spain and the US.

Looking to visit? Besito Mexican will be located at 75 Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington and at 199 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill. Both locations are open daily from noon to 11 p.m. The Burlington location is slated to open June 17, while the Chestnut Hill opening is planned for the fall.
