Massachusetts just can’t stay out of the spotlight.
Rumor has it, according to celebrity gossip site TMZ.com, that Needham’s own Olympic Champion, Aly Raisman, could be a contestant on the next season of “Dancing With The Stars.”
The Hollywood-centric news site reports that there has been no definite announcement about the gymnast’s role on the upcoming chapter of ABC’s hit reality dance show, but “sources” have an inkling that Raisman will be paired up with another famous name to take on others in a battle for the championship.
Raisman, who took home the gold after her appearance in the 2012 London Olympics, hasn’t said a peep about her reported role in “Dancing With the Stars” on her official Twitter account yet.
A representative from the ABC show told TMZ.com that an official announcement about next season’s cast is expected on Tuesday.
Raisman won’t be the first Olympic gymnast to grace the dancing stage. Last season, Shawn Johnson, a 2008 balance beam gold medalist, was a frontrunner on the show.
Raisman briefly appeared, and danced, in one of Johnson’s final routines last November, alongside four other members from her 2012 London team.
During her time at the summer Olympics, Raisman became the most-decorated gymnast among what reporters dubbed the “Fierce 5” competitors.
