What could be worse than returning home from a nice, long vacation overseas? Getting bit by a scorpion after returning home from a nice, long vacation overseas.

That was what happened to one Wellesley woman, who was stung by a spiky-tailed arachnid after opening her luggage upon returning home from Italy over the weekend, according to police.

Wellesley officials posted the picture of the baby scorpion, who they say somehow crawled its way into the woman’s belongings, and stayed hidden until she finally went to unpack.

According to the report, on June 24, around 3:30 p.m., Wellesley Police, Fire, and Paramedics responded to the woman’s home after she called and said she had been stung by the little scorpion

Police said while the victim was unpacking, “the scorpion was agitated and struck.”

According to police, the victim was not seriously injured and did not go to the hospital.  “Wellesley firefighters took control of the scorpion at the scene,” officials said.
