When we first heard about Ben & Jerry’s newest flavor, “Taste the Lin-Sanity,” in Harvard Square, we were admittedly weary. Made with vanilla frozen yogurt and lychee honey swirls, the ice cream was originally packed with fortune cookies. Beyond our preference for cookie dough, fortune cookies do bring up some ESPN-esque questions, and they’ve since been replaced with waffle cone pieces.

“There seemed to be a bit of an initial backlash about it, but we obviously weren’t looking to offend anybody and the majority of the feedback about it has been positive,” said Ryan Midden, Ben & Jerry’s general manager for Boston and Cambridge, to the Boston Globe.

Midden said the primary reason for changing the cookie ingredient was because the cookies got so soggy, however, after seeing the most recent tweets from @BenJerryBoston, it appears there must have been more to it than that.

Pints of Lin-Sanity have since sold out, but a portion of the new flavor’s proceeds will be donated to a Cambridge nonprofit to be named later, according to the Globe. Our question: Who’s going to get in on the Linsanity next?
