It may only be January, but for Boston’s startup community, that means it’s prom season. The second annual Tech Prom takes place at the Red Lantern on Wednesday. Expect an evening filled with good people, great times and plenty of debauchery to leave you hungover on Thursday morning. Cheers to the Boston tech community, and we’ll see you in your best tux on Wednesday night.

Tuesday

Temple Bar Beer Dinner – 6pm –8pm – Temple Bar – Portico Brewing Company is hosting a beer dinner at Temple Bar, pairing three flavors of their locally-brewed beers with three courses for just $30.

Saloon Celebrates the Scottish Bard Robert Burns’ Birthday – 6:30pm – 8:30pm – Saloon – The Davis Square cocktail joint is celebrating poet Robert Burns with a three-course tasting menu of whiskey.

Opus Affair – 6pm – 9pm – West Bridge – Every month, Opus Affair hosts a charitable event called the Punch Bowl Fund, in which you donate $5 for a glass of punch and a ballot to vote for one of three featured non-profits. This month, the The Fenway Alliance, Collective Creature (a Yes.Oui.Si. project) and MetroWest Opera will be competing to take the donations.

Wednesday

MassChallenge UnTapped – 6pm – 8pm – MassChallenge – Curious as to what makes MassChallenge tick and how you can get involved? At this session of MassChallenge UnTapped, come with questions, comments and suggestions to learn more about the program and the space.

Boston Ninja Race – 6pm bib pickup – Back Bay Social – Despite the freezing temperatures, the November Project is hosting an 8-mile nighttime race along the Charles River. Participants must wear ninja attire, and cannot complain about the cold. The starting line is at Teddy Ebersol Field, and there will be an after-party at Back Bay Social following the race. Registration is full, but you can still run – just show up!

Tech Prom – 8pm – 12am – Red Lantern – It’s back, and better than ever this year. The second annual Tech Prom takes place this Wednesday, featuring the best and the brightest in the Boston tech community. From Passion to Business in Food and Wine – 1:30pm – 2:30pm – Lamont Forum Room, Harvard – The Harvard Alumni in Food & Wine group is hosting a career panel of food enthusiasts who will discuss how they turned their passion into a business.

Fail Smart: Mistakes To Learn From – 6pm – 8pm – MassChallenge – Turnstone is hosting Fail Smart, a peer-to-peer crash course designed to help entrepreneurs learn from failure. Panelists will tell their stories of adversity and mistakes, and attendees are encouraged to participate in the discussion.
