Because a little party pre-planning can make time fly. Whether you’re stopping by the American Field event for USA-made goods, or going elbows-up through the 90 percent off racks at the Gilt City Warehouse Sale, there’s something for everyone happening in Boston.

Friday

TEDx Cambridge Fall 2014 – 5 to 11 p.m. – Broad Institute, Koch Institute, Ragon Institute & Technology Square Atrium – Sit in on a TEDx evening event with discussions and talks followed by a gourmet reception with food and drink.

6th Annual Flavors of Boston – 6:30 p.m. – Seaport World Trade Center – Witness the city’s top chefs creating world-class meals right in front of you before sampling the dishes at the sixth annual Flavors of Boston event, which supports the American Liver Association. This year, the theme is 1920s.

Bottlenotes Boston: Around the World in 80 Sips – 7 to 10 p.m. – John Moakley Courthouse – Head to the Courthouse for a Friday night wine event that brings 80 different wines from all over the world together in one place for sipping and sharing. Guests are invited to purchase VIP tickets to the Sherry-Lehmann Suite at the event, where they can participate in taste tests and sample some of the rarest wines in the world.

Gilt City Warehouse Sale – September 12 & 13 – Space 57 at the Revere Hotel – Score awesome deals on designer brands at the Gilt City Warehouse Sale, which returns in Boston on Friday night and continues on Saturday, with multiple sessions available to shop. Get your tickets online in advance, and browse the racks with free cocktails, snacks and more.

Backyard Beer Garden – September 12 to 30 – Pier 6 – To squeeze every last bit out of summer, Pier 6 is transforming their patio into a backyard beer garden, an actual green space that will serve a limited edition “Gaylord” Harpoon beer.

Saturday

Boston Festival of Indie Games – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. – MIT Stata Center – By some accounts, a video game stole the show at Apple’s iPhone 6 launch event this week. If medieval battlefields on the iPhone aren’t your thing, check out some other digital-game genres this weekend at the Boston Festival of Indie Games, like puzzle games, horror adventures and alien makeout simulators. –Written by Galen Moore.

CollegeFest 2014 – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Fenway Park – College students of Boston are invited to the first free CollegeFest at Fenway Park. There will be live music, giveaways and free swag galore.

Riverfest – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Assembly Row – Celebrate the new Assembly Row at the event that preceded the development. There will be live music, art, children’s activities, food and a night time fireworks show. ASSEMBLED: The Handmade Arts Market will also be out in full force.

MIXFest 2014 – 12 p.m. – DCR Hatch Shell – MIXFest 2014 is bringing headliners Phillip Phillips, O.A.R., Christina Perri and Magic! to the Hatch Shell stage for an afternoon of music and end-of-summer celebration on the Charles River. One local act who wins the Mix 104.1 15 Seconds of Fame Contest will be opening the show. Music starts at 4 p.m., but guests are encouraged to arrive when gates open at 12.

American Field: The All American Pop Up Market – September 13 & 14 – The Innovation and Design Building at Boston Seaport – American vendors will be out in full force at this weekend’s pop up and exhibition market. Join sponsors Ball and Buck as well as Harpoon, who has brewed a specialty beer for the occasion, for all-American shopping and mingling. Live music will be played throughout the afternoon as well. The market runs from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday

5th Annual Boston Local Food Festival – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Rose Kennedy Greenway – This Saturday, the Greenway will be transformed into the largest local and sustainable food hub with the Boston Local Food Festival. With a market, chef demos, a seafood throwdown, live music and more, you won’t leave hungry.

South Street Diner Customer Appreciation Day – 2 to 6 p.m. – South Street Diner – Head to the South Street Diner for the annual Customer Appreciation Day, featuring a DJ, free pony rides, a cartoonist, an ice cream truck, and free hot dogs and hamburgers.

Once BBQ 007: License to Grill – 4 to 10 p.m. – Aeronaut Brewing – Join Aeronaut Brewing for a grilling extravaganza with ten food vendors serving up Bond-themed dishes and one top-secret beer special for the occasion. There will also be live music and Bond theme songs.
