The Coolest Companies Competition crowning is a key part of the celebration at BostonFest each year, and this August will be no exception. The 2015 winners will join an elite crew, comprised of the coolest companies in The Hub. We checked in with some of the 2014 winners to find out what’s the coolest thing that’s happened to them since BostonFest. Here’s what they said!
Boathouse Group: We launched a new training program for Junior and Mid-Level account managers. According to one participant in our CEO’s staff training program, “Presenting in front of my peers is not something I had ever embraced — in front of clients was second nature but learning from each other was a new experience. I loved seeing my coworkers’ approach to the project and different presentation styles. We picked up nuances from each other which really helped us develop in our individual roles. Having direct exposure to the CEO and CFO of Boathouse– presenting in front them and getting real-time feedback was really rewarding…you don’t get that at big agencies.”
Connelly Partners: The virtual reality video content our branded entertainment team developed for Dynatrace, a performance software company, was really cool. Using Google Cardboard technology, we were able to create a 360 degree virtual demonstration of their software in a dynamic and novel way that fascinated show attendees. The virtual experience was all the rage at the show and drove lots of traffic and engagement at Dynatrace’s booth. It’s just scratching the surface of the type of immersive content we’re starting to explore to produce deeper engagement with audiences.
clypd: It’s been a very exciting year! Since we’ve won the Coolest Company award, we’ve grown the clypd team over 40 percent. Additionally, in April, we closed our Series B round of financing, which will allow us to continue building out our leading TV advertising platform, grow the team across all departments and expand the business internationally.
LogMeIn: Since last year, LogMeIn has continued to accelerate growth both financially and physically here in Boston. Our biggest piece of news of local interest is that we are going to be doubling our Boston presence in the Fort Point District this year. We moved to our current 100,000+ sq. ft. location in Fort Point just over two years ago, in April 2013. By the end of 2015, we will add another 100,000+ sq. ft. directly across Summer Street. This will help us accommodate the additional hiring of hundreds of new employees over the next couple of years!
Skyword: A lot of cool things have happened at Skyword in the past year–we launched our video platform and global content marketing capabilities, rebranded our website, and hosted our first multi-day conference in Boston which drew 300 attendees from around the country and internationally. What’s most exciting is the pace which we have grown: recently, we’ve doubled our space moving to a new office in Downtown Crossing.
