Ever wondered what it’s like to sing the National Anthem at a professional sporting event? Now’s your chance to find out. The Boston Celtics are looking for someone to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at home games during their 2012-13 season. The auditions for talent will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe until 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Here’s more on the auditions:

Auditions will be open call and on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon arrival, each contestant will receive a number and be asked to perform for the judges when their number is called. Auditions are not open to the public, but a limited number of friends and family may be admitted with each participant. All auditions will be acapella, and there will be no accompaniments.

Now, I’m sure there are a lot of talented singers in New England that will be vying for this coveted role. That’s great, and we support you. But let’s be honest, it’s funnier when they mess up. Mayor Menino would be a good candidate for that. Anyone remember this rap video?

Do it, Menino.
