The holiday season is a great time to be in love – or at least, a great time to be swiping through Tinder. With all the parties, pretty lights and mistletoe coming up around the corner, it’s natural to want to couple up, especially before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.

But what’s the best way to get that ball rolling with a new love interest this month? Sure, there are tree lightings, holiday performances and ice skating rinks inviting you to indulge in all the season has to offer, but thinking outside the box is where the best date inspiration comes from. So why not make plans based on who’s on fire in Boston?

50 on Fire, BostInno’s annual awards ceremony, is tonight, December 4, and you’ll want to be there to find out who’s heating up the Arts & Entertainment, Dining & Retail, Education, Tech, Media, Design, Sports & Fitness and Medicine & Health industries in Boston. We’ve asked area experts to choose the 50 individuals and companies who are doing big things and making big changes in the city, for the better. Tonight, we’ll bring those finalists and judges together to announce the winners, and we want you to be there as well. Grab your 50 on Fire tickets below.

In the meantime, get to know our nominees in the best way possible – through the lens of hot date ideas. Not only are these finalists in the running for 50 on Fire, but they’re heating up the love lives of Bostonians as well. Read ahead to get some date inspiration for the season, and we’ll see you tonight at the Moakley Courthouse at 7 p.m.

For the artsy types…

Impress your culturally minded date with a night at the American Repertory Theater in Harvard Square. Right now, you and your date can see “O.P.C.,” or even partake in one of the free art events associated with the production. Or, take your date to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum on Thursday, December 18, for Winter Solstice, a seasonal celebration as part of their Third Thursday series. Finally, you can combine a love of art and food at Liquid Art House, the art gallery-restaurant hybrid experience brought to life in the Back Bay by Ruta Laukien.

For a night of boozy bonding…

Warm up this winter by heading to one of the city’s two on-fire breweries, Aeronaut Brewing Company or Harpoon Brewery, to tour the factories, sample limited edition beers and stuff yourself with pretzels (at Harpoon’s beer hall). More of a wine drinker? Grab a box of wine-on-tap leaders Richer Pour’s wine boxes and enjoy a cozy night in – if you forget to plan ahead, you can always order a load of liquor to your door, thanks to Drizly.

For inducing an on-fire food coma…

Book a reservation to dine with one of our finalists, and we guarantee you’ll win your way into your date’s heart. Take him or her to Alden & Harlow in Harvard Square to experience one of Chef Michael Scelfo’s dynamic small plates; try Row 34, Lineage or Island Creek Oyster Bar to taste Chef Jeremy Sewall‘s seafood creations; or head to Regal Beagle in Brookline, where you’ll find “Top Chef” contestant Stacy Cogswell in charge of the kitchen.

For learning something new together…

Try a class at the Boston Center for Adult Education, which offers up everything from cooking tutorials with local chefs, to photography lessons for better picture taking. To get some inspiration from local innovators, you can also take a tour of the MIT Media Lab, where they’re running the “Three Pioneers” exhibit, which focuses on the work of the three minds who helped make the Media Lab become a reality. The exhibit runs through December 31, and is free and open to the public.

For the fit and sporty…

Just because it’s winter, that doesn’t mean date nights have to mean heavy dinners and snuggling in front of Netflix (necessarily). If you and your other half want to stay active this month, look no further than the Boston sports and fitness industry. Try out Turnstyle Cycle in Kendall Square, which offers a new spin on the average spinning class, or learn to throw a hard left hook with a boxing heir at The Club by George Foreman III. If you’d rather spectate than partake, grab tickets to a New England Patriots or Revolution game, where on-fire finalists Julian Edelman and Jermaine Jones will be owning the field.

So, go forth and seduce your loved one with Boston’s hottest restaurants, classes, museums and more. Before that, we’ll see you at 50 on Fire (where dates are, of course, also welcome). To get a complete idea as to who will be in attendance, you can find the complete list of finalists right here
