Boston may not be known for its celebrity prowess, but over the next few months you may be able to spot some celebrity big wigs around town. Noted director David O. Russell — you know him from The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook — is descending upon the Hub to film what is sure to be another Academy Award-worthy flick, and he’s bringing quite the star-studded cast with him. The untitled project will star Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner and Louis C.K., amongst others, according to IMDB. Which means, those beautiful actors and actresses will be coming to Boston to film for the next few months.
Take a moment to let that soak in.
On Location Vacations, a blog dedicated to film productions, reports that the movie is not scheduled to begin shooting until Monday, March 18th, but it may have started as early as Wednesday of this week, and celebrity sightings have already begun.
An anonymous source tells BostInno that Bradley Cooper has allegedly joined the Equinox gym on Franklin St. in the Financial District. It’s great to see that he’s concerned with keeping his rock hard abs in tact during his time in Boston.
Cooper also surprised film enthusiasts at the AMC Loews Boston Common on Tuesday during a screening of his film The Place Beyond the Pines, and the Boston Globe reports he was later spotted at the Four Seasons.
Jeremy Renner has also been seen on Boylston St., according to On Vacation Locations, and on Twitter, he is seen in town with Amy Adams.
While exact set locations have yet to be revealed, the blog notes that at some point, filming is scheduled to take place on the 4th Floor of 1 Beacon St. Casting calls have gone out for women to be extras in an “indoor pool party scene set in the 70s,” and the crew is looking for vintage cars and their drivers, as well.
Additionally, a Twitter follower tells us that filming is scheduled for all day on Friday, March 15th at her house near Beacon St. and Park Ave. on the Boston/Brookline line.
On Location Vacations reports that the production offices for the flick are set up at 70 Fargo St., Ste. 809 Boston, MA, under the name White Dog Productions, LLC. They are scheduled to film through May 19th, 2013.
The film, referred to as “American Bullshitt” or the “Abscam Project,” is about an FBI sting operation called “Abscam” that took place in the 1970s and helped uncover the corruptness of about a dozen Congressmen and other political figures. It is set to be released in December 2013.
