App lovers have the chance to hang out, see demos of the latest and greatest, network and chat mobile with others throughout the evening. Boston’s newest Taxi app has only been around for about six months, but they’ve already differentiated themselves from the other vehicle-hailing applications. The startup recently raised a $30M round from investors groups that include Richard Branson.

The newest Boston-based “mystery shopper” service, Mobee demoed their application at the holiday edition of Drinks on Tap and received a very positive response from attendees. The app’s recent update included hundreds more missions and rewards for Boston dwellers to take advantage of.

The live music discovery app, who also demoed at Drinks on Tap over the holidays, scored 100,000 downloads in the first two months with almost no marketing. Last month they snagged $360K in funding to expand the app global and add features.

This application, developed to identify political ads and the groups behind financing them, gained wide attention from outlets such as ABC News, CNN, TechCrunch, The Boston Globe, Business Insider, Forbes, Mashable, The LA Times and Fast Company, upon launch around the 2012 presidential election.

Ever called a local restaurant or store only to be put on hold for what seems like forever? TalkTo aims to eliminate this problem by letting users text any business, simply and without any phone frustrations.

This helpful app lets you snap a picture of a color that catches your eye and matches it to Benjamin Moore’s more than 3,300 paint colors.

At our biggest Drinks on Tap event last year at Microsoft’s NERD Center, TripAdvisor demoed their newest application specifically made for tablets. An app version of their wildly popular website, TripAdvisor lets users find the best hotels, restaurants and things to do with the help of over 75 million reviews by travelers.

Joining the crop of fitness startups in Boston, GymPact has a unique take on exercise. The app asks you to commit to working out and rewards users with money for completing exercise. Miss a work out? You’ll have to pay a certain amount that goes to others users. Luckily, the app lets users set the amount owed for their missed gym sessions.

Attendees at the Drinks on Tap held at the NERD Center were privvy to a sneak peak at this game from Owlchemy labs. The game studio partnered with SEGA to launch, JackLumber, a game where users play as a lumberjack who takes revenge on the forest to save the woodland creatures who dwell there.

One of the earliest demos at Drinks On Tap, Box.net lets you access and edit your files from anywhere on any device. The service is now in use by more than 120,000 companies – including 92% of the FORTUNE 500.
