A pie from KO

This week may be America’s Independence Day, but on Tuesday night, jm Curley is celebrating all things Aussie. The Downtown Crossing hotspot is hosting the Mick Dundee Challenge, named after the man we all know as Crocodile Dundee, but little crocodile wrangling will actually be involved. Instead, area chefs will join jm Curley’s Samuel Monsour for a meat pie extravaganza.

Eater reports that the concept started when Sam Jackson of KO Catering and Pies talked smack on a meat pie Monsour served at jm Curley, promptly challenging him to a duel in the kitchen. Luckily for you, the duel involves food, and Monsour and Jackson wrangled James DiSabatino of Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Mark Goldberg of Park and Daren Palacios, also of KO and jm Curley, to share their meat pie creations.

The Mick Dundee Challenge costs $10, which will get you three pies and the opportunity to rate the pies based on your own expert taste buds. The fun kicks off at 10 p.m. on Tuesday at jm Curley. For more info, on the event, click here.
