Former President George H.W. Bush shaved his head in a show of support for a young boy who lost his hair after cancer treatments.

Two year-old Patrick, whose father is a member of President Bush’s security detail, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. The other Secret Service members joined the President in support of the young boy.

Patrick’s prognosis is “very positive” according to the website created by his father’s fellow Secret Servicemen, but there are still “many years of treatment ahead.” They created patrickspals.org to raise awareness about Patrick and fundraising events to help pay his medical bills.

The first fundraiser, “Patrick’s Pals Motorcycle Benefit Run”, will take place on August 10 in Kennebunkport, Maine, where the Bush family spends their summers.

President Bush and his wife, Barbara, lost their daughter Robin to leukemia in 1953.
