Things that are awesome: Science fiction, fantasy, comic books, anime, videogames and superheroes. Things that are hilarious: Comedy festivals. Things to are hilariously awesome: Geek Week VI.

Hosted by ImprovBoston, the 6th annual Geek Week kicks off tonight, bringing you four nights of  improv routines, musicals, sketches, and stand-up comedy celebrating “everything geek.” Bring out the nerd in you, with over 15 shows dedicated to comic book heroes, video game villains, aliens and anything else you can conjure up from your wildest sci-fi dreams.

According to the press release:

The show was created by stand-up veteran Tom Franck who books comedians who are not only the finest working today, but who have the geek street cred appropriate for the show. Franck himself can claim the ultimate nerd comedian status as an appearance in Green Lantern 143 labeled him as the top comedian in the DC universe.

So, basically, this guy knows what he’s talking about.

Expect appearances from awesomely named groups like  Ninja Sex Party, a New York-based musical comedy duo, and shows like Jennifer Dziura’s, “ˇThe Punctuation Show! (How to Use Tiny Symbols to Make Meaning Without %$^&#* Up).” Then, there’s a Harry Potter themed sketch comedy show, “HufflePuffed!”, and even a multimedia experience that examines the absurdities in life that most people overlook because they aren’t as weird and nerdy as the comedian.

Personally, I’m insanely curious to see “What Do Werewolves Have in Common with Cold Sores?  Lycanosis: The Virology of Werewolfism,” due in large part to the fact that I would have never expected to hear “werewolves” and “cold sores” in the same sentence ever.

Geek Week may be a barrel of laughs, but it’s all for a good cause: Ten percent of all proceeds from this year’s Geek Week will be donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Greater Boston Comedy Relay.

Check out the full schedule below. Tickets range from $12-$18, and can be purchased here. Now, get your geek on!
