Believe it or not, great white shark sightings have actually boosted the tourism economy on Cape Cod and the Islands. People love to be frightened by these types of sharks, from a safe distance of course, and have come to accept the fact that they travel to New England to feast off the seals that adorn the Cape’s shoreline. But further up the coast in Duxbury, people aren’t quite used to it.

On Monday afternoon, it was reported that a great white was spotted off the coast of Duxbury. Less than an hour south of Boston, offshore from Duxbury Beach, the massive carnivorous fish was first noticed by a Massachusetts State Police helicopter, according to the Duxbury Fire Department Public Information Officer Twitter handle.

WCVB is reporting that the shark was spotted in close proximity to Powder Point Bridge.

Naturally, all swimmers have been ordered out of the water and there are no reported injuries or issues.

Stay tuned to BostInno for more information about the great white as details continue to be released publicly.
