We all have different thoughts on Hubway here in the BostInno office. It makes LisaD a little nervous, but the Bruins are all for it. (Durling is too, despite the face he’s making in that picture.) As the EDU writer, I think Hubway could help bridge Boston’s colleges, meaning I’m beyond thrilled to hear that for the next two days, students from any area college or university can receive 50 percent off a Hubway membership.
Between 12 and 5 p.m. today, Hubway will be at the Boston University Farmer’s Market on Commonwealth Avenue outside of the George Sherman Union. With a valid student ID, visitors can receive a membership for only $42.50, down from its $85 value.
And after Hubway hits Boston University today, they’ll be crossing the Charles and heading over to Harvard University tomorrow. Students will be able to find them outside of Harvard Business School from 1 to 3 p.m. handing out the same discount.
For all those as nervous about bike riding in Boston as LisaD and, admittedly, myself am, MassBike will be also providing a free class tonight in conjunction with Hubway. (Yes, I said free.) From 6:15 to 7:15, Hubway will be at the Boston Public Library teaching visitors about bicycling skills and safety precautions.
If you’re a student and looking to break into the cycling community, and get to class quicker, easier and in a more sustainable way, head out to meet Hubway and snag some student discounts. The deal’s good today and tomorrow only.
