Cybersecurity company Rapid7 announced it is moving its Boston headquarters from the Financial District to become the anchor tenant at The Hub on Causeway, a large, uptown mixed-use development that is being built adjacent to TD Garden.
The company said on Thursday that it plans to consolidate its 100 Summer St. headquarters and its 1 Main St. office in Cambridge to a 147,000-square-foot office in The Hub, with a move-in date currently expected in the second half of 2019.
Once completed, the new office will give Rapid7 a swanky, outward appearance on Causeway Street, where it will have one large sign and a smaller sign on the building, according to a rendering provided by the company. The company said the new office will allow it to continue growing its headcount and “create a showcase for innovation.” Since it moved into its 100 Summer St. headquarters in 2014, the company has more than doubled its global headcount to more than 1,000 employees, with 500 working locally.
“We believe The Hub will offer us the room we need to grow and help spur a new innovation center in Boston amid the escalating costs of the Seaport and Cambridge,” Corey Thomas, CEO of Rapid7, said in a statement. “For us, the decision to move our headquarters is about creating a phenomenal work experience for our Boston-area employees while continuing to invest in the Boston community and the exceptional talent pool it develops.”
A spokeswoman for Rapid7 told BostInno that the company has roughly 90,000 square feet of office space between its current offices in Boston and Cambridge. She added that the company is not sharing any specific hirings plans with this announcement.
According to Bldup, The Hub will consist of 1.87 million square feet of retail, hotel and residential space across the property, which will include three towers. The first phase of The Hub’s construction is slated to finish in late 2018.
