Green Street Vault first shook up Boston, debuting as the city’s premier urban apparel truck last year. Now, however, the company’s making a name for itself in New York, having appeared on The Today Show bright and early this morning.
The segment was called “Fabulous Fashion on the Move,” riffing on how clothing’s gone from “runway to the roadway.” Everywhere from Austin to Boston, fashion trucks are on the taking over the streets, and the city’s own Haberdash Vintage got a shout-out alongside Green Street Vault, as well.
What The Today Show segment didn’t touch upon, of course, were the recent permitting issues fashion retail trucks are currently facing here in the hub. Green Street Vault’s been unable to park and operate within Boston city limits, and although they’re in the process of meeting with city officials, new permits could take more than six months.
The good news is that there’s still Green Street Jungle, a pop-up shop on Newbury Street that Green Street Vault opened with streetwear brand Annie Mulz. Beginning June 10th, the truck will also be at the SoWa Open Market every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The team writes on their site, they’ll be “stocking new and different products every week,” and that Green Street Jungle will remain open during SoWa Sundays.
Fashion trucks have certainly started procuring fans. Just this morning, viewers were tweeting:
And word has it from Green Street Vault co-founder Derrick Cheung that they’ve already received a sale through email since the segment aired this morning. To hear what The Today Show had to say about Haberdash Vintage and Green Street Vault, though, just check out the video below.
