Update 11/27, 9:30 a.m.: The Boston Herald reports Batali’s new restaurant could be a third franchise of his OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria. A source says it will be located at 320 Summer St., taking up 6,500 square feet of space in the same building LogMeIn is slated to move into next year. A formal announcement will be made in two weeks.

One of America’s most renowned chefs will soon make his Boston debut. According to a tweet from Mario Batali himself, the chef will be opening Babbo Pizzeria in the Hub sometime in the near future.

Eater Boston reports that an “industry source” claims Batali’s Babbo Pizzeria could be located somewhere in the Fort Point and Seaport District vicinity.

Additionally, Eater reports:

An Eater tipster had heard that the new restaurant would be an extension of Batali’s OTTO brand, so the Babbo name might just be a way of avoiding going head to head with Boston’s existing, unrelated OTTO Pizza, the chain out of Portland, Maine.

Back in February, Batali tweeted choice words about Maine’s OTTO Pizza, who shares a very similar logo to Batali’s OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria, located in New York and Las Vegas.

Yikes, harsh words.

Batali already has his stake in 16 eateries across the globe, one of which also sports the Babbo name. His other infamous endeavors include Del Posto and Eataly, and feed mouths as near and far as New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Connecticut, Hong Kong and Singapore.
