It’s hard to believe Mayor Tom Menino is entering his final month in office, concluding 20 years at the helm of Boston. To kick things off for his last December, Menino announced a series of 20 giveaways this week.

With the 27th Annual bostonCANshare program coming to an end this Friday, Dec. 6, after more than a month of donations, Menino announced the program will be dishing out a wide range of prizes to donors throughout the week.

“Bostonian’s have been incredibly generous in supporting bostonCANshare this year, already surpassing last year’s donations, but there’s much work left to be done to get us to our goal of $100,000 and 50,000 cans of food,” Menino said in a statement.

The bostonCANshare drive is a joint effort by various City departments, corporate and community partners, City agencies, and Boston Public Schools to provide hunger relief to Bostonians in need. Canned food donations are delivered by FedEx to The Greater Boston Food Bank and distributed to more than 90 Boston food pantries, shelters and food kitchens. This year’s drive started on Monday, October 21.

Starting today until the end of the day Friday, during peak hours, randomly-selected bostonCANshare donors who contribute online during specified hours will be notified via email if they have won.

In order to qualify, donations must be submitted online and meet the minimum amount.
