It’s a match made in TV sitcom heaven: Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are reportedly engaged, bringing the whole Jackie and Kelso storyline ŕ la That ’70s Show full circle. Sure, Jackie was a bit of a diva and Kelso a major dumb ass, but the fact that their real-life counterparts ended up together is too good for my little heart to handle.
So now that we can close the book and skip away happily from that TV couple turned real-life love birds, let’s take a look back on some more small screen duos we wish would just get together already and get it over with, so the world can return to its proper order. Because happy Friday.
Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky, Full House
Um, hello. Maybe Rebecca Donaldson shouldn’t have put up with Uncle Jesse over all those years/try to raise a family of her own while living in the Full House, but in real life, Lori Loughlin and John Stamos were seriously meant to be. Don’t believe me? John Stamos even said Lori Loughlin was the one who got away, and I’m sure there are a million middle aged women out there who fainted at those words. Those two have real chemistry. UJ+AB forever.
Nick and Jess, New Girl
If you don’t watch New Girl, you’re missing out – especially on the best first kiss to ever be shown on TV. (Says me.) Nick is the perfect antithesis to quirky girl Jess, and I believe that real life Jake Johnson would likely be the perfect antithesis to quirky girl Zooey Deschanel. In the meantime, though, at least we have YouTube clips of that perfect kiss. SIGH. I’m just going to watch this shoddily filmed video for the rest of the day.
Seth and Summer, The O.C.
Everyone freaked out last week when Adam Brody (Seth Cohen) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girls‘ Blair Waldorf) got married – a match made in CW heaven. But an even better match would have been Brody and O.C. costar Rachel Bilson. What makes it even worse is that Seth and Summer did have a real life relationship a few years back, but I guess she wasn’t actually that undeniable.
Buffy and Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Slayer dating a vampire is an unlikely combination, but Buffy and Angel seriously had it going on, before Buffy had to sacrifice him to save Sunnydale/the world, and to get Angel his own spinoff show. IRL, David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar would have made an unreal pairing, but I guess she’s got a pretty good deal going on with Freddie Prinze, Jr. Oh well, a girl can dream.
Leslie and Ben, Parks and Recreation
Sometimes I forget that Amy Poehler and Adam Scott, otherwise known as Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt in the world of Pawnee, aren’t really married. And when I remember, that makes me sad. (Especially after Amy Poehler and Will Arnett got divorced. WHY.) But if she can’t have you, Will, she deserves Adam. Or Joe Biden. Either will actually do.
Angela and Jordan, My So Called Life
My So Called Life only lasted one season, so if Angela (Claire Danes) and her brooding love interest Jordan (Jared Leto) would have carried on the torch, we would always have something to remember the cult classic by, besides a DVD box set. Plus, considering Danes’ and Leto’s hot careers following the show, they could have been one of Hollywood’s power couples by now. But ya know, it’s never too late!
Donna and Eric, That ’70s Show
Usually, I wouldn’t exactly be all for Laura Prepon and Topher Grace hooking up for real, because meh, but now that Jackie and Kelso are together, maybe Donna and Eric will realize that they always belonged together? Eh? No? Whatever, it would just make the story even more perfect. But, probably not gonna happen.
So what TV couples would you like to see make it in the real world? We know we left out some classics … but I have my reasons. (One being that Danielle Fishel can do way better than Ben Savage; not to mention Jennifer Aniston and what’s his face would never.)
