Envision a lone car driving on a road through the mountains or around a picturesque lake. That’s the go-to scene at B2B roadside assistance company Agero’s new Medford office.

The 116,000-sq.-ft. space next to the Malden River is filled with pictures of memorable drives. These images decorate the walls around meetings rooms, stairwells and elevator banks in the office.

“It’s our job as a company to get your bad day back on track,” said Jeannine Booton, Agero’s vice president of marketing. “These pictures say something about customer momentum, about movement, about connectivity.”

Agero links customers with vehicle manufacturers and insurance providers nationwide who offer driving assistance, accident management and towing services.

So after moving out of another Medford space in September, the 40-year-old company thread the driving experience into every part of its new office.

The sign near reception on the second floor features an embossed road map of Boston behind the Agero logo. Two Restoration Hardware tables in the reception area are inspired by the handheld wheels mechanics use to raise cars in repair shops. The white ceiling is interrupted by black tiles that resemble a road—this "road" breaks off over group spaces made for collaboration. Most of the conference rooms are named after car parts or famous drives—Ocean Drive and Riverside drive, for instance. Even the game room bears a traffic-themed title: Rush Hour.

The office is designed for “cross-functional collaboration” for the 375 Massachusetts-based company employees, said Booton.

“When designing the space, we basically said ‘here’s the brand story that we want to tell,’” said Booton. “We want to reinforce our mission about why we all get up in the morning and come to work, and that’s really to safeguard drivers on the road.”

A screen in the reception area shows which states Agero customer calls are coming from. Each beaming red dot splattered on the U.S. map represents a separate service event.

The office also boasts several “hub spaces” for relaxation or impromptu meetings, a Genius Bar-style help desk, a kitchen on every level and a gym on the ground floor.

Local architecture and design firm, Visnick and Caulfield, built the office which also houses Financial Recovery Technology and Cross Country Group, Agero’s parent company, on the fourth floor. Agero operates four offices in Tuscan, Arizona; Tri Cities and Clarksville, Tennesse; and San Francisco, California in addition to the Medford office, which is the biggest.
