The Boston area will soon be home to Pantry, a one-of-a-kind grocery shopping experience. The upcoming brick-and-mortar version of online “dinner in a box” services like Blue Apron and Plated, plans to open this June in Brookline’s Washington Square neighborhood.
Founded by Dennis Lasko and Amanda Mayo, Pantry aims to take the stress and hassle out of planning and shopping for meals. The store features “Recipe Kits” with pre-portioned, locally sourced food as well as recipe cards and videos. All recipes available at Pantry can be prepared in 20 to 45 minutes max. And unlike online subscription-based recipe kits, Pantry requires no commitment or advance notice.
A meal at Pantry comes with every ingredient you’ll need, which means grocery shoppers can avoid wasting unnecessary food. In addition, the innovative grocery store will sell sommelier paired wine and beer for each meal and plenty of kitchen supplies.
The recipes, created by CGO (Chief Gastronomic Officer) Amanda Mayo and her team, are designed for cooks and chefs of all levels. Meals will include: Lamb and English Pea Orecchiette with spring onions, lemon, and mint; Moroccan Chicken with cauliflower “couscous”; Sweet Potato Flautas with jicama and radish salad; Vietnamese Shaken Beef with red watercress salad and pickled onions; Provençal Tomato Soup with fennel and white fish; Strawberry Nectarine Crisp with rosemary (in individual jars) and more.
According to a release, Pantry is scheduled to open mid-June and is located at 1622 Beacon Street, Washington Square, Brookline. Delivery will be available in mid-summer.
