Our beloved New England Patriots didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year, and it’s safe to say many of us will be boycotting the big game next weekend. Of course, that doesn’t mean there isn’t another big game for us to watch: Puppy Bowl IX will air on Animal Planet on Sunday, February 3rd. For those of you unfamiliar, Puppy Bowl 2013 is an event in which the cutest puppies around the nation battle it out over toys in a playpen designed to look like a football arena. The Puppy Bowl isn’t just for puppies — there is a halftime show with kittens, pig cheerleaders, hamsters, hedgehogs and more.

The 2013 lineup for the Puppy Bowl was just released, and boy, is it a cute one. There are 34 dogs on the roster, each hailing from rescue shelters across the nation, and luckily for New Englanders, there are three pups hailing from Rhode Island in this year’s Puppy Bowl. So because we don’t have any Patriots to cheer for in the Super Bowl, root for these adorable New England puppies on Animal Planet instead.

Sally is a 12-week-old Dachshund/Basset Hound mix from Furever Dachshund Rescue in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. She loves to steal slippers.

Copper is a Dachshund/English Pit Bull mix. At nine weeks old, his favorite pastime is shredding paper. Copper is also from the Furever Dachshund Rescue.

Described as a “lovable little terror,” Harry is a 12-week-old Chocolate Dachshund hailing from the Furever Dachshund Rescue as well.

Together, these three pups are ready to take on the furry competition and bring home the title for New England!

Let the games begin!
