Celtics’ star Ray Allen has just signed with the Miami Heat. Allen has reportedly signed a multi-year deal worth around $3 million to join the reigning NBA champs.
The news of Allen to the Heat came on Friday evening around 9:30 pm EST when Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted the news. “I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family #20.”
The Heat beat the Celtics on their way to the NBA champsionship this year and, it looks like Ray Allen wants in on that action. Allen has apparently left a $6 million deal on the table with the Boston Celtics in order to “win another championship.”
Allen met with the Miami Heat on Thursday afternoon. It didn’t take him long to make the decision. Goodbye Ray, it’s been real.
This is only the beginning for Celtics as their team will certainly go through some major changes this off season.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article stated that Allen had been traded. He has signed as a free agent.
