A sparkling blue Boston waterfront dotted with gleaming white sails on a sunny day signifies that spring is back in the city. It helps us come alive in the summer; after all, the open air and exposure to sunlight can be hard to come by when working a 9 to 5.

But this weekend, you have a good reason to get outdoors and embark on a journey. The Boston Sailing Center, located on the Boston Harbor, is hosting an open house this Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. Guests are welcome to take either the 24 or 40 foot boats for a ride – and don’t worry about having any sailing experience. Each boat will be manned by an experienced sailor, and guests can either sit back and enjoy, or try their hand on the helm.

If you’ve been thinking about sailing more often in Boston – after all, it is a perfect city to do so – this is a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the popular sailing center. Team members will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have about the sport, as well as their Learn to Sail Program, a 26-hour crash course that turns beginners into successful sailors.

This weekend, interested soon-to-be sailors will also receive discounted memberships and courses. The sailing membership is a year round deal, and according to the BSC website, members ultimately spend as much or more time on the water as boat owners, at a lesser cost.

The open house is a first-come, first-serve opportunity, so the BSC suggests that if the weather is nice, hopeful sailors should plan to arrive before 3 p.m. From the looks of it, Saturday is looking pretty dismal, with a high in the 40s and a chance of rain, while Sunday is expected to be overcast with a high in the 50s. But, if you’ve been trying to channel your inner Seth Cohen ŕ la The O.C., now is your chance.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the Boston Sailing Center is located on the Charles River. It has been updated to reflect the proper location, which is on the Boston Harbor.
