Kids these days are obsessed with SnapChat – it’s all the rage. And why wouldn’t it be? An app that lets me send photos, maybe even ‘sexy photos,’ to friends and then the photos self-destruct after a certain time, leaving no trail. Brilliant! And if Tiger Woods had SnapChat he might never have been caught – yes I went there. Anyways, it turns out that there is a super easy SnapChat hack that let’s users secretly save SnapChat photos.
TechCrunch dug up the SnapChat hack yesterday from a hacker and web designer named Raj Vir. Vir claims that the SnapChat hack allows users to easily save photos sent via SnapChat by simply taking a screenshot. Other SnapChat hacks have been discovered before, however, with Vir’s the user won’t get notified that a screenshot has been taken of the photo. Awesome.
Here’s how it works, courtesy of TechCrunch:
- While viewing a SnapChat photo, take a screenshot by pressing the home and power button at the same time, while making sure to continue holding on the screen in order to ensure that the picture gets captured.
- After taking the screenshot, the photo won’t show on the screen and you will be brought back to your list of snaps.
- Before the photo expires, double tap the home button to bring up the multitasking bar. Once you’ve brought that up, SnapChat won’t recognize your screenshot.
TechCrunch goes on to describe why this works, how this works and that it actually does work through their tests. If you are interested in learning more, you can make the jump to the TechCrunch article here.
So will this destroy the whole SnapChat community? Absolutely not. It might even strengthen it. Users will certainly scramble to try out this hack and have fun with it until SnapChat fixes it – which they will. Things will then go back to normal, until a new hack is found and more buzz is created. After all, this SnapChat hack is being covered by quite a few publications.
