We often complain that there’s nothing to do. Visiting the same old bars becomes boring, and it ultimately becomes easier to stay in than make plans with your indecisive friends. Plus, spending money becomes an unattractive evening prospect when you’re facing high prices at the same old haunt.
Luckily for us unhappy night owls, there’s a new app in town that’s aiming to create a comprehensive guide to where to go in Boston and beyond. MassNightly, the product of two Bellingham, Mass. natives that brings everything going on at bars across the state together in one place: from ongoing happy hour deals to special events, if it’s going on at a local bar or restaurant, MassNightly will tell you about it, aiming to get people out of the house and to help them save money while doing so.
The app’s cofounder Chris Haddad, says that they’re constantly updating the lineup, and the locations’ subsequent specials and events to the mobile app and website’s database.
“Each week, we’re adding new bars and restaurants to it. We wanted to make it available to everyone, with cheaper options and for all ages, 21 and beyond,” said Haddad.
Along with help from Haddad’s co-founder Andrew Melchiorri and the mobile company AndPlus’s Sean Mahoney, the MassNightly app was created in the summer of 2012 into an easy to use, comprehensible guide to the best events and discounts organized by location in Massachusetts.
Whether you’re looking for live music, dollar drafts, trivia nights, 25-cent wings or karaoke, MassNightly can help your search exist all in one place, rather than in multiple Google searches all over the web. And with Boston night life on its way to becoming a fuller, bustling experience as MBTA trains run later into the night, Haddad thinks MassNightly will further help it to grow.
“I hope it will make people appreciate night life in Boston more. We strive to help people save money, most of the deals that we have are 25 cent wings or dollar drafts,” said Haddad. “We want to help people get off the couch and do something, and enjoy the nightlife that Boston really does have to offer.”
MassNightly has also partnered with the popular bar pastime Paint Nite, so if you sign up for a Paint Nite event through the MassNightly app or website, you’ll receive $10 off your tickets. In the future, the company hopes to create more partnerships to help benefit the site as well as participating bars and restaurants, along with host their own events, but that is still in the works.
So next time you’re tired of the same old night-out experience, and are fed up with paying too much for a plate of wings or a beer, check MassNightly. They want to help.
