Your future lunch plans could be decided this afternoon! Today, Jan. 20, the City of Boston’s Office of Food Initiatives is set to host its annual live lottery for food trucks vending on the public way. The lottery allows food truck owners to select their choice sites for the upcoming vending year, which begins April 1, 2015.
With more than 500 shifts available on the public way, the lottery is expected to last around three hours. As far as the number of food trucks is concerned, Mayor Walsh stated in a release that “Boston’s food truck industry continues to grow with more than 80 trucks expected in 2015.”
The names of food trucks participating in the lottery will be drawn, at random, out of one of three hats, determined by the standing of the truck after the annual evaluation process.
By the end of the process, Bostonians should have a better idea of where and when their favorite food trucks will pop up this spring. Attending the lottery will be Mobile Food Truck Committee members and staff from the Office of Food Initiatives, as well as current and new food truck vendors. The Live Lottery takes place today from 4 to 7 p.m. For more information on the lottery, check here.
