Out of convenience, we often get stuck in a rut, only going to our favorite neighborhood joints to eat and drink. Thanks to a new promotion from Uber, though, you will now have an incentive to explore.
In April, Uber Boston quietly launched Neighborhood Love, a series of monthly discounts grouped by local neighborhoods. For example, in April, Uber users were privy to free glasses of wine, orders of french fries, or 25 percent off dinner in certain Downtown Crossing establishments, just for showing their Uber receipt.
The concept will be replicated and expanded to other neighborhoods in the Boston area, according to an Uber Boston rep.
“Boston has so many great neighborhoods that are all vastly different,” says Uber Boston’s community manager Sarah Haydu. “As a team we love to go out to eat (and drink) our way around the city and we wanted to give riders a reason to check out our favorite spots.”
Existing Uber customers can enter code “BosAprilNLExt” for 25 percent off one ride into the featured neighborhood, while new customers can enter the code “BosAprilNL” for a free Uber BLACK or UberX ride to or from the neighborhood.
Through April 28th, users can enjoy discounts and freebies at jm Curley, Stoddard’s, Max & Dylans and Sip Wine Bar.
“With discounted rides and specials at the restaurants, it’s a great excuse to get out of your comfort zone and try a new place in a neighborhood that you may not check out often,” adds Haydu.
In May, Uber Boston will extend its Neighborhood Love program to Back Bay to encourage customers to travel to the Back Bay and spend money at local businesses that were affected by the Boston Marathon bombing.
Haydu does not yet have a neighborhood schedule past May.
On Friday, Uber also announced they will be expanding to the western suburbs of Boston, now servicing areas such as Wellesley, Burlington and Newton. From now until May 6th, enter the promo code “BosSuburbs” to get one free ride from the suburbs, up to $40.
