Whether you’re single or in a relationship, let’s face it: “romantic” candlelit dinners with expensive bottles of champagne and bouquets of roses are not always as “romantic” as they’re chalked up to be. The champagne tastes the same as $6 Andre, the roses die eventually, and it’s too dark to even read the menu. And don’t even get me started on the cost. Where’s the fun in that? Skip dinner this year, and bring the life back into Valentine’s Day with these six alternative plans tonight. From burgers and cocktails to pizza and movies, there is nothing cliched about these out-of-the-box Valentine’s Day events for both singles and couples.
Burgers & Boilermakers Valentine’s Lunch – 12pm – 2pm – Drink – Grab a cocktail during lunch at Drink in Fort Point. The lounge is hosting a special Valentine’s Day lunch featuring a delicious array of burgers. “No two ways about it,” they promise.
Love Sux – 4pm – Howl at the Moon – Howl at the Moon is inviting you to an anti-Valentine’s Day party in which you can “roast the losers that you let go and toast to the ones who continue the search for Mr. and Mrs. Right!” There will be drink specials, dueling pianos and plenty of good times to be had.
A Perfect Valentine’s Day Pairing – 5pm – 8pm – Urban Grape Chestnut Hill – Every Thursday evening, the Urban Grape offers wine tastings, and tonight is no exception. Head to their Chestnut Hill location to enjoy Winebow Burgundian wines paired with chocolates from from Boston chocolatier Rebecca Novak. How sweet!
Sweet Cheeks Meat Market – 7pm – 11pm – Sweet Cheeks is throwing its first “celebration for the commitment-phobic” tonight with BBQ, cocktails, games, prizes and absolutely no slow songs.
Ducali Movie Night – Forgo the elaborate prix fixe dinners this year and eat some pizza instead? Ducali is pulling down their screen projector and showing “Dumb and Dumber” tonight. Menu items include special “Spinaci” pizza, heavy on the garlic, and a “Broken (artichoke) Heart.” There will be beer on tap, too.
Tainted Love Industry Party – 10pm – MJ O’Connor’s – This party is for the restaurant industry folks –bartenders, waitstaff, hosts and more – who are sick of serving couples during Valentine’s Day. The party will have anti-love songs and a live DJ on the speakers, $6 bites, specialty drink, prizes and more.
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day tonight?
