Rue La La knows fashion, and the Boston company’s Assistant Fashion Editor, Lindsey Doolittle, can attest to that. Doolittle was busy running her own style blog, L’s Fashion Dish, when she scored her current gig at Rue earlier this year.

Since then, Lindsey’s only gotten more in tune with the current style climate, and, not to mention, her wardrobe has gotten wider (Rue employees do get a discount on the already-awesome flash sales, after all). We asked Lindsey to give us a look inside her closet to see her ultimate staples and favorite trends.

But first, hear about her personal style in her own words before scrolling through the photos.

How would you describe your personal style?

Mostly classic and feminine but I’m kind of all over the place. Some days I’ll wear a full midi skirt with a t-shirt, statement necklace and pointy-toe pumps, and the next I’ll wear boyfriend jeans, Chuck Taylors and my worn-in military jacket. I’m also the epitome of a high/low shopper. I invest in shoes and handbags but refuse to pay full price for trend pieces.

Where do you love to shop?

Zara and Piperlime never disappoint. And because I work at Rue La La, half of each paycheck goes right back to them. The employee discount makes it so hard to say no!

What are your must-have staple items for a great wardrobe?

Every woman should have a great-fitting black blazer, a leather jacket (real or vegan!), a classic bag that you’ll love for decades, a pair of printed pumps that jazz up otherwise boring outfits, a LBD AND a LWD, basic nude and black flats, and a few fun pieces that speak to your personality. For me, it’s full skirts and interesting necklaces.

What up and coming trend pieces do you currently own or have your eye on?

I bought a leather midi skirt from Zara recently that I’m psyched about. I love it paired with an oversized chunky sweater. I also have my eye on a cropped fur coat. Because why not?
