You may have the day off today, but President Barack Obama is at work, beginning his second term with the Presidential Inauguration ceremonies. Monday, January, 21st marks the 57th installment of this historic event, and even if you’re not in DC, you can still watch the Presidential Inauguration here in Boston. Where to Watch the Presidential Inauguration in Boston
Museum of Fine Arts – 11am – 2pm – Free – The MFA is screening the 57th Presidential Inauguration during its Martin Luther King Jr. Day Open House. There will be a live airing of the festivities in the Alfond Auditorium. Admission to the museum is free, so make a day of it and check out the galleries as well.
Boston Public Library – 10am –5pm – Free – Various branches of the Boston Public Library will be airing the inauguration throughout the day on Monday. The main branch in Copley Square will be screening it, as well as branches in Roxbury, South Boston, the South End and the West End. Click here for more details.
Celebrate Victory 2.0 – 1pm – 4pm – Orleans Restaurant – Cambridge Somerville for Change, Progressive Democrats of Somerville, Progressive Mass, and Organizing for America are hosting an inauguration party with some notable guests, including Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, State Representative Denise Provost, Cambridge City Councilors Leland Cheung and Minka vanBeuzekom and more. There will be a special “Obama playlist” and appetizers along with the live screening.
Commemorative MLK Day & Presidential Inauguration Watch Party Brunch – 11am – 2pm – Hibernian Hall, Dudley Square – The RoxVote Coalition is hosting a brunch in celebration of MLK Day and the inauguration. There will be special guest speakers and performances, and attendees are asked to bring donations of new socks, hats or gloves for local shelters in honor of Dr. King’s legacy.
Game On — Over in Fenway, Game On will be screening the inauguration and serving up a delicious drink, aptly named the Inauguration Punch.
How to Watch the Presidential Inauguration on TV
ABC – ABC News kicks off its inauguration coverage on Monday, running from 9:30am to 5pm ET.
CBS – CBS begins screening at 7am on Monday with a three-hour CBS This Morning broadcast from the National Mall. Inauguration coverage continues until 4pm. Additionally, CBSNews.com will be streaming the inauguration coverage online.
NBC – NBC News coverage starts with Today at 7am on Monday, broadcasting live from DC. From 10am to 4pm ET, Brian Williams provides coverage of the inauguration on Capitol Hill. Streaming can also be viewed online at NBCNews.com.
CNN – CNN’s coverage includes a live broadcast from the National Mall and U.S. Capitol on Monday morning at 9am. On Monday from 10:30am to 1:30pm, the CNN.com homepage will also screen the festivities.
