From talks on diversity in tech, to regulatory issues with drones, to discussing immigration and tech with some of the city’s most prominent founders, here are 10 Techweek events to be sure to check out.
Techweek is holding real-life elevator pitches Tuesday at 9 a.m. Entrepreneurs will get to pitch venture capitalists in the John Hancock Center elevators leading up to The Signature Room at the 95th. The event is currently full, but you can add your name to the waiting list.
Leaders in the Chicago tech community will share personal stories highlighting diversity and accessibility in tech in this Techweek panel. The talk takes place Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Future Founders is holding a Techweek Mentor Mixer Wednesday for college students and aspiring entrepreneurs to meet and get connected with potential professional mentors in tech. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will include a keynote from Robert Blackwell Jr., a Chicago serial entrepreneur and the founder of Killerspin.
Chicago’s Chief Information Officer Brenna Berman will speak Thursday about how Chicago is using connected technologies to be more responsive to residents and to deliver better government services. Attendees will learn about current projects the city is working on and learn more about planned initiatives around IoT.
BallotReady wants to make it easier to vote informed in every race and every election. The startup’s co-founder Alex Niemczewski will speak at Techweek Thursday in a fireside chat about how the company helps people compare candidates based on stances on issues, endorsements, biography, or news articles.
VisMed’s Dima Elisa, Reserve’s Greg Hong, Brideside’s Sonali Lamba, Shiftgig’s Eddie Lou, and Impekable’s Pek Pongpaet will talk on a panel focused on entrepreneurship Thursday at Techweek.
