Chicago music icon Chance The Rapper is joining the likes of Drake, Dr. Dre and Pharrell Williams with his very own show on Beats 1.
Chance announced the new show over the weekend while on Pharrell’s Beats 1 radio show, and teased on Twitter that the show could be called Worldwide Chicago. You can see a clip from the show below and listen to the full episode here.
It would be a big deal for Apple Music to feature Chance The Rapper on a Beats 1 show, as Chance would have a platform to highlight a Chicago music scene that’s often overlooked by the coasts. He would be added to a star-studded lineup of musicians with shows on Beats 1, which also includes Elton John, DJ Khaled, and Mary J. Blige.
For those new to the service, Beats 1 is Apple Music’s 24/7 live curated internet radio station, which features programs from well-known DJs, and often releases new tracks from sought-after artists. Future, for example, just premiered his new album EVOL live during DJ Khaled’s Beats 1 show.
Apple Music and Beats 1 can now be heard in more than 100 countries, and it just launched yesterday in Taiwan. Having just began in June 2015, Apple Music reportedly has more than 10 million paying subscribers, roughly half as many as Spotify.
