StubHub Now Offers VR Tours of Wrigley So You Don't Get Stuck Behind a Column

Not to take anything away from what is arguably the greatest sports stadium in the country, but the old adage "there's not a bad seat in the house" doesn't really apply to Wrigley Field.

Thanks to its vintage construction (read: charm), with its columns and overhangs, there are a number of seats that don't offer the ideal vantage point. And though you're going to have a great time at the ballpark, regardless of an obstructed view, it's still nice to be able to see the whole game, especially given the skyrocketing costs of a 2016 ticket.

That's why StubHub has launched Virtual View, a 360° seat-mapping feature with VR capabilities, allowing fans to see exactly what their views will look like before buying a ticket.

Here's how it works: With the new in-app feature, fans can access a 360° view of their seat by moving around their iOS/Android phone. And for those with VR goggles (like Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear), users can insert the phone into their viewer for an immersive VR experience. This way, fans can explore every seat and section in the stadium, enabling them to pick the perfect available seat.

Right now, Virtual View is currently available for Wrigley Field, Citi Field, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium and AT&T Park in San Francisco.

This is the second VR-related announcement for a Chicago live event to hit this week. On Tuesday, Live Nation, the music promoter that handles Lollapalooza and other festivals, announced that it plans to produce shows in virtual reality, with the first event is expected to take place this summer.
