After a month of competition, and more than 70,000 total votes, we finally have our 2018 Tech Madness Chicago champion.

SpringCM edged out Shipbob in the final round, earning the 2-seed the championship in Chicago Inno’s annual bracket challenge.

SpringCM, a B2B software company that helps businesses manage sales contracts and other documents, had to take down plenty of worthy competitors on their way to the title, beating fast-growing startups like Truss, Fooda, Reverb, and ultimately Shipbob. SpringCM launched in 2005 and is backed by more than $120 million in funding. The company counts Facebook, NBC Universal and ING as users of its business software.

We set out by asking you all, our dear readers, to vote on each matchup based on who you would like to “invest” in. We kept that purposely subjective; you could invest in a startup because you hoped to get the biggest return on your investment, or simply because you believed in the company’s mission. The goal, at the end of the day, was to create a friendly competition that highlights the Chicago startup ecosystem.

Congrats to SpringCM, who will receive a commemorative basketball, a giant Tech Madness bracket with each round’s outcome, and bragging rights for an entire year—until we launch Tech Madness again in 2019.

If you enjoyed Tech Madness, and want to connect with Chicago Inno on other great events, each year we also hold Chicago Fest, a fun summertime networking event where we crown Chicago’s “coolest companies,” and 50 on Fire, our annual end-of-year awards event, along with other smaller, topic-focused meet-ups throughout the year.
