Chicago-based G2 Crowd announced Tuesday that it has hired former LinkedIn executive Adrienne Weissman as the company’s chief marketing officer.
Weissman spent three years at LinkedIn as the director of marketing solutions before joining G2 Crowd. There, she worked with brands like Microsoft, FedEx, and Ford to help them leverage LinkedIn as a content marketing and advertising platform. She has also held senior-level leadership roles in sales and marketing at Google, Digg and AOL.
At G2 Crowd, Weissman will lead the sales and marketing efforts, and will be responsible for generating increased traffic to the company’s more than 25,000 software reviews.
“I am always attracted to companies with huge aspirations and who like to disrupt established models and industries that are no longer as intuitive and valuable as they once were,” Weissman said in a statement. “G2 Crowd is doing exactly that.”
G2 crowd is like Yelp, but for software reviews. The company has doubled its number of reviews in the last year, and the site is used by technology buyers, investors, and analysts to compare the best software. G2 Crowd has raised more than $4.5 million from investors including Chicago Ventures, Hyde Park Ventures, and Tim Kopp, since launching in February 2013.
Weissman has more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing at tech companies, which G2 Crowd says will play a major role in fueling the company’s growth.
“Adrienne brings a wealth of great tech and B2B sales and marketing experience to G2 Crowd,” added Tim Handorf, co-founder and president of G2 Crowd. “Her experience working with many of the world’s largest and most influential brands will serve us well in this critical growth period for G2 Crowd.”
