Your New Year’s resolution to get healthier just got easier thanks to Walgreens and WebMD, which announced a partnership Wednesday to create a virtual wellness-coaching program on

Your Digital Health Advisor allows you to create customized goals and action plans to help lose weight, eat better, quit smoking, and start other healthy living practices. You can add activities, track your progress, chat 24/7 with a Walgreens pharmacist, and earn Walgreens Balance Rewards for making progress toward achieving your goals.

The partnership comes a month after Deerfield, IL-based Walgreens launched virtual doctor’s visits through its mobile app with telehealth service provider MDLIVE.

“Today marks the first significant milestone in WebMD’s collaboration with Walgreens to expand access to information and services that can help millions of consumers achieve their health and wellness goals,” Dr. Steven Zatz, President of WebMD said in a news release.

The Walgreens/WebMD partnership also integrates Walgreens Balance Rewards into WebMD’s mobile app, which allows people to upload data from devices such as activity trackers to create incentives for engaging in healthy behaviors. The partnership also allows customer to access the Walgreens Refill & Transfer Prescriptions service from within WebMD’s app to scan the barcode on their prescription to refill their prescription at their local Walgreens pharmacy.

“By integrating WebMD’s wellness coaching services and trusted content into Walgreens online and in-store experience, together we are creating an experience for consumers that will empower and motivate them to make healthier decisions,” added Adam Pellegrini, Vice President of Digital Health at Walgreens.
