If you had sat down with the team and asked us who we thought would be in the Tech Madness championship round, the two who actually made it wouldn’t have been on our list.
Both STYCKIE and TwentyTables have shown they know how to wrangle the votes needed to advance in each round. Each have gone on to beat a collection of No. 2 and No. 3 seeded companies, including Upskill, Echo360 and Upside Travel. All this, despite the fact that each one is participating in the competition for the first time.
When you think about the D.C. tech landscape, STYCKIE landing in the final round makes sense. It’s an event planning startup in a city where event and hospitality tech flourishes. And, so far, STYCKIE has received the most votes in each of the past three rounds. In the Final Four, the company came out with 3,530 votes out of the total 8,725 votes cast.
But they have stiff competition from newcomer Twenty Tables. The fixed-cost meal marketplace won with 57 percent of the vote against Upside Travel — even though they’ve only been around for one year.
Once again, our readers have proven they love a good bracket. So far, the 2018 bracket competition has netted more than 92,000 votes between all rounds. We kicked off the competition in early March at WeWork 80 M St SE with our bracket reveal party.
Now, it’s your last chance to participate in the competition. Voting for the Tech Madness Championship ends on Thursday, April 5 at midnight. Cast your vote now to make sure your favorite ends up victorious:
