With the new Avengers movie coming out soon, my inner geek has been going nuts with anticipation, so to satiate my hunger for super hero awesomeness, I have decided to combine two of my favorite things together: comic books and social media. Yes folks, I have found an infographic that actually ranks and scores different social media sites according to the super hero they most accurately reflect.

Freakin’ awesome, right?!

The kind folks at Digital Agency – FreeStyle Interactive have put together a sweet infographic that compares and contrasts different social media sites to their corresponding super hero equivalents, and I’ve gotta say, they did a damn good job of it. Their comments and quotes are spot on in describing what makes each site unique, and the heroes that represent each one will definitely illicit a laugh or two from anybody reading it. My favorite is probably YouTube, mainly because cyclops was a childhood favorite for X-Men heroes. Here are the highlights of each of the superheroes:

  • Facebook is The Hulk: Big, ugly, powerful, but not very friendly…
  • Twitter is Spiderman: Fast, agile, capable of quickly forming large webs of connections…
  • LinkedIn is The Thing: Strong, solid, but not very flexible and possibly the only thing uglier than Facebook…
  • MySpace is DareDevil: Quick, agile, good at what it does but very short sighted…
  • SlideShare is Invisible Girl: Small, looks great, but doesn’t do all that much…
  • WordPress is Batman: Sleek and sexy with more gadgets (widgets) than you can shake a stick at…
  • YouTube is Cyclops: Popular, leader of the pack but a one trick pony…
  • Google+ is the SilverSurfer: Mysterious, promising but a complete unknown
  • RenRen.com is Wolverine: Fierce contender to Facebook but not keen on outsiders…
  • Flickr is the Human Torch: Very impressive to look at but you wouldn’t miss it if it was extinguished…

Enjoy the infographic folks!
