Fairfax-based Invincea announced Monday several milestones in recent months, including scoring $8.1 million in new contracts for the company’s advanced research division. The new funds will go toward the Invincea Labs department for advanced cybersecurity projects, according to a release.
Invincea, a cloud-based cybersecurity company using the novel concept of secure virtual containers to protect systems against attack, pulled in a $16 million round of venture capital funding in December from Aeris Capital, Dell Ventures and New Atlantic Ventures. These new research funds are also not Invincea’s first. In June 2012, the company was awarded $21.4 million by the U.S. Army for similar research on mobile security.
With the new funds, Invincea will continue its momentum as a solution for both commercial and enterprise customers. In December, the company entered a partnership with Dell that will ship Invincea’s software on all Dell commercial devices straight from the factory.
The company also announced Monday that in the past two quarters alone, it has added 54 new enterprise customers.
