What’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions artificial intelligence? Is it excitement for new, cutting-edge tech? Fear of job loss from automation? The Terminator?
AI is one of the hottest topics in tech today, and is being woven into nearly every industry in the U.S., from retail to real estate. It was also one of the most funded categories of 2017. By Q3, year-to-date venture capital investment in AI totaled $7.6 billion, according to Pitchbook. That beats the totals of 2016 ($5.4 billion) and 2015 ($4 billion).
At our State of Innovation Meetup on Feb. 22, we’ll discuss the latest innovations in AI and how it’s being applied by businesses in the Twin Cities. The event will be anchored by a fireside chat with Gene Munster, managing partner at Loup Ventures, a Minneapolis venture capital firm investing in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and robotics.
Our artificial intelligence meetup will also feature a panel of local AI experts and founders who will discuss the evolution (and recent ubiquitousness) of the technology and their experience with it. Minne Inno is currently working to finalize speakers for this panel, but it will include Jim Guszcza, chief data scientist of Deloitte Consulting, and a member of Deloitte’s Advanced Analytics and Modeling practice.
